Mini-Review: The Dark Knight

Well, it’s finally here. What has probably been the biggest and most hyped film of the summer has finally made it to theaters. The question is… does it live up to the hype?
The short answer is yes. It absolutely does. I’m not even sure what I can even say about the film but to recommend that everyone go see it. The Dark Knight has everything you could possibly want from a summer blockbuster and more. Action, Suspense, and Humor rolled up into one giant bat package. Then there is Heath Ledger, who is so good as The Joker that it is absolutely ridiculous. I don’t know whether it’s all him or just good directing, but this film makes The Joker seem like the greatest villain of all time.
Yes, Christian Bale’s Batman voice is still stupid. Yes, some of his ‘bat gadgets’ are beyond ridiculous. But all this is completely overshadowed by how good this film is. And that’s really all I’m going to say about it. I’ll let The Dark Knight do the convincing for me. Go out and see this movie!

So, I couldn’t agree more with everything you have said. The joker completely disturbed me-and I’m sure that was the point. He was scary. Yes, the batman voice was lame. When he flipped the 18 wheeler, it was flipping sweet!
Heath Ledger definitely stole the show. To me, Batman, the character, was actually a small part of the movie, kind of like an after thought. There were times when he would pop up, and I would be reminded that I was watching a Batman movie. Christian’s “Batman voice” was completely laughable.
Ha ha, great review. Did you really see it twice? Well, I wanted to see it at the IMAX, but tickets here are sold out for weeks. It was good enough on the small indie screen I saw it on, though! I couldn’t even tell 2.5 hours went by. And even though Maggie Gyllenhal was a crappy Rachel, and even though Batman’s voice and jaw grinding were ridiculous, and even though I spent a good chunk of the moving sad about Gordon dying, I thought it was AWESOME too =) Heath Ledger was amazing…and you just got a nice in-depth look at the awesomeness of Chicago…wish you could have visited!!!
