As my online handle suggests, I often like to do things just because I can. I’m not sure what it is, but I just like tinkering with things. There’s just something fun about taking something designed to work or function one way and changing or adding to that functionality. Additionally, I like that the customization you do separates that same object from its duplicates out in the world. That’s why I decided it was time to create my own theme for my iPhone.

Though I loved my phone from the very moment I opened it up and turned it on, the phone in its factory state is nowhere near as cool as it is in it’s hacked state. While Apple made an amazing and beautiful product, the community around the product is constantly improving it. I love having third party apps on my phone, but I often get annoyed by the less than aesthetic app icon choices the writers choose. Some icons don’t even fit the iPhones design and others just look hideous. Either way, I decided it was high time I create my own theme.

I was originally just planning on fixing the really annoying app icons, but quickly realized that I could make over the entire home screen and give it a personal touch that would fit better with my universal aesthetic preference of grays and dull colors. Thus, my custom theme “MoniPhone” was born. I love the new look!
