]]> Well, as usual, I’ve already grown tired of [what was] my current WordPress theme. It’s not like I was ever that fond of what it was in the first place, but I’ve decided it’s time for a new one.

The last time I switched themes, I wanted to try out one with three columns that would allow a bunch of widgets in the sidebars, but I’ve realized now that I don’t really care about all that sidebar mess. So, I’ve switched to a very simple, single-column theme. I’m liking this a lot better. Hopefully I wont get tired of this one as fast as I did my last.

My blog hardly [or should I say doesn't even] comes close to having enough traffic to require a fancy comment system, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t install one! And that’s exactly what I’ve done.

Don’t get me wrong. I love WordPress, but it’s plain comment system just doesn’t do it for me. The lack of threaded comments and inability to approve comments without going to the website and manually doing so just leaves me wanting more. I mean, adding Gravitars to your blog can only spice it up so much.

Thankfully, I decided to check my RSS feeds before heading to bed and came across a little site called IntenseDebate. A few minutes ago I installed the latest beta of their WordPress plugin and I have to say this thing is beautiful. I haven’t even had a chance to completely dig into it yet, but I’m already in love.

Don’t take my word for it though. Dive on in. Leave me some comments, reply directly to others comments, and head over to the IntenseDebate blog and check out all the features they provide! For now I have to head off to bed.

]]> For pretty much as long as I’ve had a WordPress blog, I’ve been expanding upon the same initial theme. I’m not quite skilled enough to build one from scratch myself, so I just like to cannibalize existing ones. This has gotten me by pretty well since I like super simple designs and all my previous iterations can pretty much be reduced to header image changes. It has caused one minor problem though.

The theme I was basing all ‘my designs’ on was designed for WordPress 1x releases. While the theme worked fine for the current versions, it didn’t take advantage of some of the new features (like tagging). Well, when WordPress sent around their latest newsletter I decided to do a quick search through the themes that were available. I ended up stumbling upon a nice simple little template that was fairly similar to my own if I just lopped off the entire header. So, since the migration would be super simple, I decided to move my blog to the new theme so I could actually use features like tagging.

This created a whole new problem. Because my theme didn’t really display tags before, I was completely ignoring the feature. Which means now I have to run through every post I’ve ever made and fill in the missing tags. I guess I could just start tagging from here forward, but seeing an empty tag cloud in the blog side bar really bothers the OCD side of me. It’s probably way more work than it’s worth, but I like the new theme.

]]> Ok, so maybe it’s not exactly a ‘new’ blog design, but it’s been updated with a new look. I’ve had this little obsession with reflections lately, so I just couldn’t help myself. I did it late last night so there is still some tweaking that needs to be done, but it’s the basic design I’m sure I’ll stick with for a while…

]]> It’s hard to believe that we’re quickly approaching four months since I made my last post. A post, by the way, which was supposedly announcing the launch of my “New & Improved” site. I’ve decided that four months is long enough and I am returning. Hopefully to something that will actually blossom this time around. Welcome all to my “Newer & More Improved” site.

If you’re at all familiar with my previous site, you may be wondering what has changed. While the site still maintains it’s minimalist white on black design theme, there is a subtle change. I have made the decision to split Just Because iCan from my online persona Albedo Piasora and move it two it’s own domain (www.justbecauseicanblog.com). Hopefully will allow me to reach a broader audience as myself and provide me the drive to maintain the site on a more regular basis. This change also has the coincident bonus to branch out the Albedo Piasora name beyond the simple blog I had envisioned into some other projects I have planed for the future.

Additionally, I’m trying out a little experiment with Google AdSense. I’m pretty fascinated by this technology that Google has created and I’m curious as to how relevant the ads will be to the content of my blogs. Maybe I’ll even start generating clicks and I can even earn some money (keep dreaming).

Well, my friend. That’s it for now. I plan to have my first official post up within a day or so and I hope many more to follow that. Take care everyone.

]]> That’s right, the site had been completely revamped with a new look and feel, as well as some new features. The biggest new feature is that the blog is being hosted on Blogger.com so it now allows viewer comments (please use “other” identity when commenting). I’ve also incorporated a new flash photo slide show in the photos section (requires flash 8 or higher). All in all, I’m much happier with how the new site turned out. There are still a few pages (about / podcasts) that are still being worked on, but they should be up soon. I hope everyone enjoys the new site as much as I do and I look forward to seeing viewer comments. Take care everyone.

]]> I’s official, ‘Just Because iCan’ is now live. What does this mean? Well, pretty much nothing. Maybe I should start by telling you the whole point of this site (not that there’s really a point to it). Basically, like many of you out there, I spend a great deal of my time on the internet; bouncing from site to site looking at information on any subject I can think of. In the end, most of information I rely on comes from Blogs or Podcasts. I just can’t seem to get enough of them. In fact, I now listen to more Podcasts on my iPod then I do music.

I’ve been so exposed to this medium that I’ve developed the desire to create my own. Over time I’ve been teaching myself the tricks of the trade, however, I couldn’t justify the effort needed to maintain the site without some sort of content to blog or podcast about.

Luckily, Apple is an amazing company. With the release of iLife ’06 last weeks, Mac users were given a little gift in the form of iWeb. With this new addition to the iLife Suite, blogging and podcasting are now easier burning a CD from a custom playlist of your favorite songs. With this application, I can blog to my hearts content and do it ‘Just Because iCan’.
