I’ve had a Tumblr account since they were first introduced, but I never really used it for much. At first I was using it to post cool little things I found around the internet, but eventually I stopped playing around with it. For the last year or so it’s just sat there importing entries from my personal blog and twitter account. Well, I’ve finally found a use for my Tumblr.

I really enjoy blogging, but don’t always have the time, energy, or inspiration to flush out a full post. I’ve really wanted to start making smaller, micro-posts (i.e. something somewhere between twitter and an actual blog post), but it’s not something I really want ‘contaminating’ my actual blog. So, I’ve turned to my good old friend Tumblr.

I’ve come up with a fun little series of micro-blogs that I will be updating spontaneously as I go about my days. I’ve created 3 tumblr’s (in addition to a simple hub for pulling in posts I do on other projects around the web):

‘I Love…’ (jbicloves.tumblr.com)
as I come across, discover, or rediscover things that I love, they’ll be posted here.

‘I Hate…’ (jbichates.tumblr.com)
as I encounter things, situations, and people that make me hate them, they’ll be posted here.

‘I Want…’ (jbicwants.tumblr.com)
as I stumble upon, uncover, or dig up awesome new things that I just have to get my hands on (in my dreams that is), they’ll be posted here.

Really, this is just a stupid little personal project that I thought would be fun, but we’ll see where it goes from here.

Earlier today I was joking around with some of my friends at work. One of them made a comment about Marine’s being brainwashed and I immediately started screaming the Marine Corps Rifleman’s Creed. Well, at least to the best of my ability. This resulted in us doing a quick Google search, studying up on the actual creed, and eventually giving me the brilliant idea to appropriate the text and create the Mac User’s Creed. And this is what I came up with.

The Mac User’s Creed:

“This is my Mac. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My Mac is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My Mac, without me, is useless. Without my Mac, I am useless. I must run my Mac true. I must recruit greater numbers than my competitor who is trying to outsell me. I must convert him before he converts me. I WILL…

My Mac and myself know that what counts in this world is not the numbers we crunch, the documents we draft, nor the pie charts we make. We know that it is the creativity that counts. WE WILL BE CREATIVE…

My Mac is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its iSight and its ports. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my Mac clean and ready. We will become part of each other. WE WILL…

Before God, I swear this creed. My Mac and myself are the defenders of my operating system. We are the masters of our competitors. WE ARE THE SAVIORS OF MY LIFE.

So be it, until victory is Apple’s and there is no competitor, but peace!”

Hey, it could happen…

Alright everyone, I’m working on a new project called Write.Click.Review. and it’s going to be User-Driven. What does that mean? Well it means that the project is only as successful as you guys make it. That’s right, it’s all up to you.

If you’re anything like me, you love watching movies on “the big screen” (in a theater). How many times have you been interested in a movie that the critics all hated, went to see it, and [contrary to the critics] walked out of the theater wondering what their big complaint was about it?

The fact of the matter is that we can’t always trust what the critics say (good or bad) about a movie. They have their own way of looking at everything, and we have ours. What we can trust are the opinions of our friends, family, and other like minded people. If you have the same tastes, chances are that you’ll enjoy the same movies.

Which brings us to Write.Click.Review., my new User-Driven Project. The concept of the site is that You (the users) will Drive the site by providing your reviews of the movies you see in theaters. You see, every time a new movie is released in theaters, I will create an entry on Write.Click.Review. for it. Every time you see a movie in theaters, you go to the site and post your review (which can be as little as a few sentences or as long as a few paragraphs). Over time, as users begin to regularly visit and comment on the site, we’ll begin to create a database of reviews that can help you make decisions on the films you’d like to see next.

Maybe there’s a movie out that you’re a little iffy on. Visit the site and see what others have to say. Maybe the reviews will save you some money, or maybe they’ll help you avoid missing the sleeper hit of the season. Either way, the next time you see or are thinking about seeing a movie, make Write.Click.Review. your first stop…

Write.Click.Review.
read it… watch it… review it…
