Why no advancements in alarm clocks?

Go ahead and take a quick look at your alarm clock. If you’re not  home right now, close your eyes and visualize it for a moment. Don’t worry, I’ll wait. Now that you’ve got it, try to remember the alarm clock you owned before that one. Now the one before that. If you think about it, the alarm clock hasn’t really changed much over the past several years. With all the technological progress we see every day, why have there been no significant advancements in alarm clocks?

Feature Request: iPhone app organization in iTunes

Everyone who knows me, knows that I’m a huge Apple Fanboy. As such, there’s no question that I love my iPhone. Since it was released, I’ve been of the opinion that it was hands down the best phone available and it only got better when the app store came online. Now like many people I have a ton of applications installed (currently 89) and it’s getting more and more difficult to keep them organized. That’s why I want Apple to add a feature to iTunes that would allow users organize their applications within iTunes and then sync the positions back to their iPhone or iPod Touch.

Woody Norris on Hypersonic Sound (TED 2004)

I just wanted to share an interesting video I watched this morning from the TEDTalks podcast. For those who aren’t familiar with the TED Conference, TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. The annual conference brings together great minds from around the world in these three fields to share what they’ve been working on. In this video from the conference in 2004, Woody Norris talks about his invention of Hypersonic Sound; an invention allowing sound to be directed almost as if it were light. It’s an amazing technology with almost limitless possibilities.

Concept for the future of Kleenex

Ok, so here’s the thing. I have this great idea for an improvement to a commonly used product. Though making it happen myself could probably make me quite a bit of money, I know that I simply don’t have the means to do it. So, I’ve decided to blog the idea in hopes that someone more talented than myself will one day do it for me. So listen up Kleenex, I want to see this on the shelves sometime in 2009.
